UniGe supporting the digital transition of Armenian universities
The University of Genoa plays a key role in the Erasmus+ CBHE project "eCAMPUS – Fostering Socially Distanced and Inclusive On-Campus Education in Armenian HEIs", an initiative aimed at supporting a structural reform of the Armenian higher education system in the field of digital teaching.
Coordinated by Yerevan State University and developed in collaboration with Armenian and European partners, the project falls under Strand 3 of the CBHE actions, focused on systemic innovation in higher education. In this context, UniGe contributes to the development of models and tools to enhance the quality of teaching, learning and assessment in digital environments (TLA).
The study visit in Genoa: a laboratory for educational innovation
On April 22–23, 2026, UniGe will host an international delegation for a study visit organised within Work Package 4 "SMARTclass", dedicated to developing standards for e-learning platforms and smart classroom models.
The visit is designed as an experiential activity: participants will observe digital infrastructures and innovative teaching practices at UniGe, with sessions at the e-learning and multimedia Service and at the Teaching and Learning Centre (UTLC), a key hub for faculty development and pedagogical innovation.
The aim is to understand how technologies are integrated into educational processes, contributing to student engagement, teaching quality and effective assessment.
Digital competences and artificial intelligence
UniGe plays a central role in the development of the DigiComArm framework, inspired by the recent DigComp 3.0. Digital competence is understood not only as technical skill, but as a combination of cognitive, critical and ethical capabilities, increasingly relevant in the interaction with AI systems.
During the study visit, particular attention is given to AI literacy, that is, the ability to use generative AI in a responsible and informed way within higher education. AI is not seen merely as a tool, but as a new cognitive infrastructure that calls for a rethinking of teaching and learning models.
Towards an inclusive digital education ecosystem
The project addresses key challenges in the digital transformation of higher education: developing faculty competences, implementing quality assurance systems, building effective digital ecosystems, and adopting innovative pedagogical practices.
In this context, UniGe acts as a laboratory for experimentation and knowledge transfer, helping to bridge European digital education policies with the specific needs of the Armenian higher education system.
